How to install your Simpal eSIM on iPhone

Your Simpal delivery email includes everything you need to get connected: a direct install option, a QR code, and manual setup details. Follow the steps below to install your eSIM safely and quickly on iPhone.

Check these things first

Most installation issues are caused by device compatibility, connectivity, or trying to install the eSIM too early.

1. Confirm your iPhone supports eSIM

Your device must be eSIM-compatible and not carrier locked. Most newer iPhones support eSIM, but availability can vary by model and region.

2. Connect to Wi-Fi

Installation usually requires an active internet connection. A stable Wi-Fi connection is recommended during setup.

3. Install close to your trip

Some plans begin on first connection to the destination network, while others may activate earlier. Follow the plan details in your order email.

Install using the iPhone button in your email

This is usually the fastest method when you open your Simpal delivery email on the same iPhone you want to use.

Open your Simpal email on your iPhone

Find the delivery email sent after your order was completed. Open it directly on the iPhone that will use the eSIM.

Tip: Search your inbox for “Simpal” or your order reference if you cannot find the message.

Tap “Install on iPhone”

The email includes a dedicated iPhone installation button that opens Apple’s eSIM provisioning flow using your activation details.

This method avoids manually typing long activation strings and is the easiest option for most users.

Follow the prompts on screen

  1. Review the mobile plan details shown by iPhone.
  2. Tap Continue or Add eSIM.
  3. Wait for the plan to be added.
  4. Choose labels such as Primary, Travel, or Data.

Set the eSIM for mobile data when needed

After installation, you can choose which line handles calls, messages, and mobile data.

  1. Go to Settings > Mobile Service or Cellular.
  2. Select your Simpal eSIM.
  3. Enable the line if needed.
  4. Set it as your mobile data line when you arrive at your destination.
To avoid roaming charges from your primary carrier, check your data line and data roaming settings before using data abroad.

Install with the QR code

Use this method if the direct button is not convenient, or if you want to install from a second device.

Display the QR code

You can either:

  • open the Simpal email on another phone, tablet, or laptop and scan the QR with your iPhone, or
  • open the email on your iPhone and try pressing and holding the QR code, which may initiate setup directly on supported devices.

Open the Add eSIM screen

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Mobile Service or Cellular.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. Choose the option to use a QR code.

Scan and confirm

Point your iPhone camera at the QR code and follow the prompts to add the mobile plan.

If the QR code does not scan easily, increase screen brightness on the device displaying it and hold your iPhone steady.

Manual setup using activation details

Use manual setup if the direct install button or QR code is unavailable, blocked, or not working.

Find the activation details in your email

Your Simpal email may include:

  • Activation code
  • Manual code if available
  • other provisioning details supplied by the network

Go to manual entry on iPhone

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Mobile Service or Cellular.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. Choose the manual entry option if shown.

Enter the details exactly as provided

Copy and paste wherever possible to avoid errors. Do not add spaces or alter any characters unless the device specifically formats them.

Activation details are case-sensitive in some flows. An incorrect character can prevent installation.

Common iPhone setup issues

If installation does not complete, one of the checks below usually resolves it.

The install button does not open anything

Open the email in Apple Mail or another supported mobile mail app, then try again. If it still fails, use the QR code or manual setup instead.

The QR code will not scan

Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, clean the camera lens, increase the brightness of the screen showing the QR code, and try again.

The eSIM says it is already installed

An eSIM profile can usually only be installed once unless the network supports reinstallation. Check your existing mobile plans in Settings before retrying.

Data is not working after installation

Check that the Simpal eSIM is enabled, selected for mobile data, and has roaming enabled if your destination plan requires it. Some plans only begin working once you arrive in the supported country or region.

My iPhone shows SIM not supported

This often means the handset is carrier locked or not compatible with eSIM in your region. Contact your device carrier if you believe the phone should be unlocked.

I installed it too early

If your plan activates only on first network use at destination, you may still be fine. Avoid deleting the eSIM unless support tells you to do so.
